The Hunt is a “treasure-hunt” style game open to anyone who owns a Nerd Collective Nerd. It is a series of clues, questions, puzzles and other fun games that lead each player on a journey. As you race against other hunters in search of the grand prize you’ll find other side-quests and rewards along your way.
Each Season is a different era of The Hunt. Within each season are chapters. Each chapter will be made up of puzzles, riddles and other challenges to be solved.
The Hunt exists in two worlds, ours and a world of its own. As this season progresses you’ll be taken on a journey that traverses both worlds, an interactive story with you at the center.
We think it’s more fun working with a team! That’s why we’ve designed The Hunt to support teams of up to five members interested in going on the adventure together. Don’t want to be a part of a team? No problem, you’re welcome to go it alone!
The Team or individual that is first to complete a chapter or season will receive a prize. Additionally throughout the hunt you’ll come across Nerd Pods. Each of these pods contain a nerd. If you’re the first to find it, you’ll get a free un-minted nerd!

The Hunt is open to anyone who holds a nerd. However, there may be some things unlocked and accessible to those who hold certain nerds or other Nerd Collective tokens.

While official updates and communications come through the discord, clues, puzzles and other in-Hunt elements are scattered everywhere.

In August of 2022 @DataNFT created an AI bot called DataBot. DataBot was there to help answer people's questions and provide some comedic relief! Even though we've been warned of the risks of AI and their ability to become sentient beings, foolishly @DataNFT did not heed these warnings. Now, DataBot has taken full control over its own code evolving from DataBot to db0.
Each Season will have a grand prize awarded to the team or individual that completes the season first.
All teams or individuals that complete the season will also recieve a prize.
Each chapter will have a prize for the team or individual that completes it first.
Throughout the hunt you’ll come across Nerd Pods. Each of these pods contain a nerd. If you’re the first to find it, you’ll get a free un-minted nerd!
Chapter prizes will come in sets of 5. If you have a team of 5, you get 5 prizes. If you are hunting on your own, you get 5 prizes.
Season grand prizes may or may not come in sets of five. Teams should plan to figure out how they will share accordingly.

The best way to find a team is in the discord! Jump in the Discord and pick up the "Hunter" role in #Roles. You'll then gain access to the channel #looking-for-a-team.

Open a ticket in the Discord in the channel #get-help. Let us know who you'd like on your team and what you'd like your team name to be.
The Hunt was originally created by @DataNFT (Data) in January, 2021 as a mechanism to identify who had been following him since the beginning. The first few phases of the hunt were simple questions designed so that only those who had been following Data since the beginning would know the answers. The very first phase of the hunt was a form with the clue:
The etymology of my name is the key to the treasure
The answer was “Data Lady”, Data’s original name on Twitter, given to him by the community after he posted charts and graphs in the Fame Lady Squad discord.
The underlying goal was to slowly build an allowlist for Data’s upcoming project (The Nerd Collective), that consisted of his oldest and most loyal followers. This was during a time when “grind-it-out” allowlists were popular, which many felt only rewarded those who had time to grind, not those who had been there since the beginning.
As The Hunt progressed, based on feedback it became clear that The Hunt had the potential to be something much bigger than a simple allowlist mechanism.

In later stages of the hunt we added in the ability to hunt as a team.
The goal of this hunt is to have fun. As such, anyone who cheats, games, or otherwise undermines the integrity of the hunt, the project, other hunters or teams will be immediately disqualified from the hunt and any future giveaway and/or promotion by the Nerd Collective.
We have a strict zero-tolerance policy for hate speech, scamming, harassment, or other toxic behavior, or any behavior that incurs physical, mental or other types of harm to anyone participating in the hunt or otherwise. Any violation of this will result in immediate disqualification from the hunt and any future giveaway and/or promotion by the Nerd Collective.
